NEWPORT NEWS, VA. --The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded AMAC International, Inc., a high-tech company located in Newport News a $500,000 STTR Phase II research grant to develop innovative high power Radio Frequency (RF) window and coupler technology estimated to save millions of dollars per accelerator upgrade project or new construction. This grant is a outstanding accomplishment considering that AMAC Intl. is the only company in 2001 to receive an STTR award from DOE in the state of Virginia. AMAC continues to receive support from DOE's Jefferson Laboratory, world wide institutions and private companies.By 2000, AMAC was awarded a DOE SBIR Phase I & II grant totaling $850,000. Communication Power Industries (CPI), the largest radio frequency company in the US, has generously contributed to AMAC $150,000 of In-Kind Support to assist AMAC in commercialization. Furthermore, AMAC has gained international support from TESLA in Germany, the largest SRF project in the world. |
